Mugwort, your ritual, cleansing or journey ally…

Burning dried mugwort as incense, or smoke cleansing with mugwort smoke is thought to purify, cleanse and protect the energy of a space or person.

A common example of this is the burning of ‘Moxa’ (moxibustion) in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which is dried mugwort. The practice is used to stimulate the flow of blood and Chi/Qi.

Mugwort in smoke cleansing offers quite a deep, full smoke experience. She is here to truly clear the space, or to take you to the depths, the underworld, the dream or shamanic realms - wherever it is you and your energy needs to go.

Inhaling this smoke always calms my system, stops me rushing, drops me into my body and gets me out of my head.

Suggested Use:

On a fire-proof surface, safely ignite the square by holding a lighter or match to a corner for several seconds, until a healthy flow of smoke forms.

Use the smoke to amplify your ritual or cleansing practices.

Additional Info:

  • The burn time will be different depending how you light it. If you engulf the square in a larger flame it will obviously burn faster than if you use a match/smaller flame and just ignite a corner of it.

  • Burn time is about 5 minutes, give or take based on the point above.

  • Turn the square over once it stop smoking to allow any dried herb material underneath to burn if you wish.

  • Square is about 1cmx1cm, 20 squares per container.

  • If using a ceramic dish such as the one in the video above, any marks created from burning normally wash off quiet easily, but obviously use something you are happy to have marked. If in a pinch, use the lid of the tin! Just take out the white plastic disc inserted into the lid first (!).

Enjoy these squares, I have so enjoyed creating and making them for you,

Claire xo
