I wished for a silence,⠀ That went on and on. ⠀ So much noise,⠀ Noise, noise. ⠀ Instead,⠀ I ask boldly. Just a pause,⠀ To hear my heart. ⠀ To know, ⠀ I am still here.
So I was pretty sick these last few weeks. . Something that came out of the blue, knocked me for six and had me totally reeling as to where it came from. . Well, I knew the true cause was stress, but with all the ways it can manifest, super acute pain was an interesting presentation for me. ⠀ . I went to the doctor, of course, got testing done, and they recommended a medication for me to take. ⠀ . To be honest I considered it in moments, scared at how much pain I was in. ⠀ . But whilst the medication would’ve fixed the pain, it would not have fix why I was stressed. ⠀ . That was the issue. . So I made a pact with myself: I’ll give everything I have in my healing toolkit a crack, and if I’m still in pain, I’ll give the meds a go. #gottadoitsometimes . I took my supplements. I ate what my body asked me for. I completely eliminated certain foods and alcohol. I meditated. I journaled. I cried. I took time away from work (even though my mind told me I couldn’t). I went and saw a kinesiologist, and bought some things to the surface I needed to let go. I looked at how I needed to change my life to prevent this happening again. I took symptomatic over the counter medication to get me through the tougher moments. ⠀ . A week later, I was 95% better. I had healed myself. ⠀ . And in all of this, I reflected that I had to walk what I talk, trust in my body, and most of all, dive into the murky unknown and treat the actually cause. . And it felt good to come through the other side knowing I’d released some things that no longer served me, and that I’d put my body in a place where it could really heal. ⠀ . Taking a medication couldn’t’ve got me there. . Sure, I would’ve felt better, but I wouldn’t‘ve actually been better. ⠀ . It’s powerful to realize and know this in your cells. ⠀ . It’s powerful to know what healing your body can actually ask of you. .⠀ This is the bigger and often harder journey, but I’d say it’s worth it 100% of the time. .⠀ Because then you’re truly well. #soundsgoodtome C xo ⠀

I think it’d be really swell if we as women demanded more from our doctors. # When working with an institution that is slow to change from the inside (medicine), sometimes it is outside demands that create and forge new paths. # I’m just so tired of it. # The wonderful complexity of the female body, and one whisp of a symptom that may seem hormonally related - and she’s prescribed The Pill. # How is this all medicine has for us. # Really? # Period pain? The Pill. PCOS? The Pill. Infertility? The Pill. PMS? The Pill. Acne? The Pill. Heavy bleeding? The Pill. Endometriosis? The Pill. # 1. The Pill doesn’t even fix these things?! # 2. All of these conditions are totally different. But yet all have the same ‘treatment’?! # Ladies, we’ve got to demand more. # - Ask your doctor to explain your condition to you. Until you wholly understand it. - Ask what The Pill will do for your presentation. Specifically. - Ask what all treatment options include. - Ask what testing has been done and if there is any further screenings. Get them to take you through the results throughly. - Ask if you meet the diagnostic criteria for a condition. - Ask what ALL of your options are. # If your doctor can’t answer you...then find another doctor who can. # Speaking to a natural health practitioner can also be a great idea when weighing up choices - we provide answers and insights when you maybe thought there wasn’t any. # The Pill does not regulate your hormones, balance your hormones or fix your period. # It shuts your hormones off. #truth # And the fact that we’re not told that whilst having it presented as the only option in most cases makes me reeeaaaalllly mad. # If you take The Pill - all my respect to you. My issue is not with any woman who makes choices for her body - they are yours to make. # But our medical options, and their drive to do more to help our bodies both really need an overhaul. # So let’s lead the demand for more 💪🏼💃🏼💪🏼
Technology: you blur the truth. ⠀ Everything good... ⠀ Actually takes time.
In Jan, many of us picked up on the vibe that 2018 was about slowing down, relishing moments and inviting in more of the ‘being’, not ‘doing’. ⠀ .⠀ I was totally down to spend my year being fulfilled by my work, but also really savouring time with my wee fam, nesting up a storm and settling into our new house, spending time in nature and really relishing lots of wonderful moments with the people I love. It wasn’t a year to ‘smash’ heaps of goals necessarily, but be present, and enjoy some recalibration away from the ‘push, push, push’ time we’re moving out of. ⠀ .⠀ And now I stop to think. Have I, am I, actually doing this? The being, not the doing? Relishing the moments? Not just working all the time? ⠀ .⠀ I feel like I could be doing better. ⠀ .⠀ Slowing it down. Creating that feeling of spaciousness where time shifts and stretches, taking lovely moments along with it. ⠀ .⠀ For me, ‘being’ is my primary focus for the next while. The sunsets. The sleep ins. The long chats. The dinners. The laughing. The hugs. The stillness. The moments of connection - with others, myself and Source. ⠀ .⠀ Man, it’s just so easy for a year to go by and only catch glimpses of the way you set out to feel and live. ⠀ .⠀ Here’s to marinating in the rest of 2018’s restorative energies, there’s some magic in the air to tap into I feel! ❤️❤️

Anyone else feel like they’re in a space between? Shifting and letting go, but waiting for the new to appear? What patience and surrender and trust it requires. Well, goodbye summer! . Having a big focus on #goodfats this week, this chillier and windier weather dries out my skin faster than anything! . 🥑 Avocados, coconut oil, nuts, seeds, eggs, chia seeds: all the good things to ply my body with wonderful fats from the inside —> out. If you’re prone to dry skin this can also be a nice time to take a fish, flax or wheatgerm oil supplement to really up the #goodfat love! . From the outside, my tip: have a shower and only semi-dry yourself, then combine the little bit of moisture left on your skin with some coconut oil for a hydrating hit. Or, add some extra oil to your moisturizer for really dry skin. .
